About the project
Through personal memories and intimate storytelling, Prošla vremena revives the traditions and customs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A co-production between Al Jazeera Balkans and MindSet agency, the series—directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nedžad Begović—offers an emotional journey into the past.

CHALLENGE – In a time of rapid change, preserving cultural heritage is crucial. Al Jazeera Balkans, in collaboration with MindSet agency, created Prošla vremena, a documentary series that brings Bosnia and Herzegovina’s traditions to life through the personal memories of those who lived them. The challenge was not just to document history but to make it deeply engaging and emotionally resonant.
APPROACH – Led by renowned director Nedžad Begović, the series blends intimate interviews, evocative cinematography, and original storytelling. MindSet oversaw filming, production, and post-production while shaping the visual identity and composing an original score under Adnan Zilić’s direction, enhancing the emotional depth of each episode.
IMPACT – More than a documentary, Prošla vremena is a tribute to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural fabric. By intertwining personal narratives with cinematic artistry, it preserves traditions for future generations while offering today’s audiences a powerful, immersive experience. This collaboration between Al Jazeera Balkans and MindSet stands as a timeless reflection on the past that resonates in the present.
